{"id":976,"date":"2015-04-29T05:47:59","date_gmt":"2015-04-29T05:47:59","guid":{"rendered":"\/?p=976"},"modified":"2015-04-29T05:54:15","modified_gmt":"2015-04-29T05:54:15","slug":"qazion-ki-baodi-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chanderi.eheritageproject.in\/?p=976","title":{"rendered":"qazion ki baodi"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-948\" alt=\"QazionKiBawdi\" src=\"http:\/\/eheritageproject\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/11\/QazionKiBawdi-150x150.jpg\" width=\"150\" height=\"150\" \/>Situated near the Purana Madarsa, this baodi or stepwell was built in 1485 by Qaziibn-<br \/>\nMehran under orders from the then ruler of Chanderi, Sher Khan.<br \/>\nThe well is circular and two staircases descend to the well from opposite sides.<br \/>\nThere are two arched entrance bays and these are flanked by two inscriptions.<br \/>\nThe inscriptions inform us that four constructions were carried out during the<br \/>\nreign of Sher Khan Ghazi. These were: this stepped baodi, a palatial caravanserai,<br \/>\na mosque and a garden known as Aatishay Namrood.<br \/>\nNo vestiges of the garden remain and only ruins of the rest house can be seen.<br \/>\nHowever, the step well and the mosque have survived.<br \/>\nThe first inscription, on a tablet fixed to the right of the stairs leading from the<br \/>\nwest, consists of eight couplets.<br \/>\nWritten in Persian in Naskh, the text reads as follows:<br \/>\nIn the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.<br \/>\nPraise is to God who has made water the source of life and gave from water grades to the<br \/>\nthings of the universe.<br \/>\nHe has in the same way imparted such lustre to the face of the prophets that they lead the<br \/>\nwhole world towards Paradise.<br \/>\nHe also made people generous from it so that they may practice generosity for the house<br \/>\nof the Prophet Muhammad.<br \/>\nEveryone practiced generosity according to his ability, in the reign of a king whose indication<br \/>\nis such:<br \/>\nin the time of the Khilji king, Sultan Ghiyas-i Din, when the muqti in this land was Sher<br \/>\nKhan, who is like Ali, Qazi ibn Mehran, in the hope of seeing the face of the Prophet, built<br \/>\na stepwell, a mosque and a garden for the sake of God.<br \/>\nGod guided him, and gave him courage to build this beautiful and bright structure.<br \/>\nAlthough there were innumerable stepwells in this region, all were dry and of no use.<br \/>\nQazi, through the bounty of the Glorious God has attained success and sufficiency. And<br \/>\nmay he remain forever through the true faith of men of aspirations.<br \/>\nNo one has seen such pure water. For this region, the bounty of the generous God is sufficient.<br \/>\nThe sweet water is like sugar and honey. The date of the completion of this work is eight<br \/>\nhundred and ninety.<br \/>\nOh God!
